I have been a qualified counsellor for 13 years, and a member of BACP since 2009. I completed my BACP accreditation in 2019.
My role as a counsellor is to offer clients space to talk in a safe, non-udgemental and confidential environment. The sessions allow my clients to explore issues, and by offering a high standard of therapeutic care and support, help them to find solutions to these issues.
Humanistic Person-Centred counselling allows my clients to explore their life experiences, how these have impacted on them and reflect on these experiences. This then allows them to identify their own strengths and working with them allowing them to obtain and achieve their desired goal. This is my main approach to counselling, alongside psychodynamic theory.
I work in private practice and a fertility clinic. I am an accredited member of BICA (British Infertility Counselling Association) and work to their guidelines and have completed additional training in the area of fertility. I have also completed training in online, web based and telephone counselling and have over five years experience in roles in these areas, and I have worked specifically as a telephone counsellor.
I have completed training and previously worked as a counsellor for a rape and sexual assault charity. I also have experience in domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, and grief and loss. I have experience within GP practices, social services, EAP schemes.
I have worked with individuals who are neurodiverse with a variety of needs (including Autism, ADHD) who are seeking support with their diagnosis.
